Are You Running?

Luke 15:11-32

1.)  The Younger Son Wanted His Portion.

Sometimes we get so wrapped up in ourselves that when we ask God for something, we want Him to give it to us now. The story of the Prodigal Son is about a wealthy rich man who has two sons. One day the younger son comes and asks his father for his share of inheritance, his father agrees and gives the son his portion of the money.

The son decides to leave home and venture out on his own. As Christian's today we should not wander away from the Father, at times we will wander, but we must pray for God to bring us back to the Father. Perhaps the Young Son thought he could handle life's situations on his own, do we sometimes think we can handle life's situations without God?

2.)  The Son Wasted His Money.

The young man found himself at a city where, there he spent all of his money, once the money was gone he discovered that the people he thought was his friends was gone, and he was alone.  What kind of crowds do we find ourselves with? Do we have good friends that will be with us through the thick and thin, or do we have the kind of friends that just like's us for our "Stuff"? Many people in the world today have talents and gifts, as Christian's are we using God's gifts for him or for self recognition?

The young man found himself alone, and eating with the pigs. How could a man go from living in a mansion with his father, to living in the mud with the pigs? Do we find ourselves in the mud and sin of this world? Sin is only good for a season, just like the young mans money was only good for a short time.

3.)
What Causes Spiritual Famines?

If we are not careful we can find ourselves in spiritual famines. This is caused by us not staying connected with God, and not reading His Word.
Four main things can cause us to have famines:   1) Not reading our Bible  2) Not (praying) communicating with God  3) Time  4) Sin

We must be on guard daily because the Devil will use any tactic he can to get us to fall and fail, when this happens we must ask God to forgive and restore us.

 4.)  How to Avoid Famines.

When we come to a point in our life when we realize we are going through a spiritual famine here are some steps to restoring yourself:
    1)  Read Your Bible  2) Pray  3) Give your time to God  4) Ask for the Holy Spirit to fill you

5.)  The realizes that he needs the Father.

The son realized that he was in the muck and mud, he said that his Fathers servants had it better then he did. So the son decided to go back to the Father. We must come to a point in our lives when we sin that we realize we must go back to the Father.   It doesn't matter what we have done God will forgive us!

When the son got back to his Father's house, his Father was waiting with open arms. God will be waiting with open arms when we come to Him, He will not shun us away. He loves us and He is glad when we go to Him.  We are not worthy of God's love but His love is greater then anybody's love here on earth.   The son asked the Father to forgive Him for what he had done.  The Father wants us to ask Him for forgiveness when we sin. We shouldn't keep sin bottled up inside, give it to God and let Him work in us. We are going to make mistakes, but God will be there with open arms to restore us back into His house.

6.)  The Father Gave The Son The Best.

God will always give us the best. We shouldn't settle for second best, because if God tells us No when we pray, that means He has something better for you. God wants us to have the very best.   No matter what sin we ever commit, God will always love us. He wants to see us live with Him forever in heaven, but He gives us a choice. He never makes us love Him, but if you think about it we should love Him with all of our hearts. He lets us wake up of a morning, and He does so many things for us. How can we not love God?

7.)  The Son's Brother Was Judgmental.

When we receive Christ as our Savior the world will try to tear us down and judge us. Even at times the Christian's will judge us over our past. The Bible says that the only one that should judge is God, and God only.  The Bible does not give us the permission to judge, hence we should judge, and the older brother had to realize this.  One day God will judge us for what we have done, the only question is, do you have Jesus as your Savior?

8.)
Steps To Finding The Father!

Although the times will get rough we must stay on the Narrow Path. There will be times when we wander off, and will have to pray for God to put us back on the Narrow Path. The Bible says that the Broad Path leads to destruction, but the Narrow Path will lead us to Jesus. There will be times when the Narrow Path will be bumpy, and rough, but Jesus said He would be right there to help us along the way.  Put your trust in Jesus Today, and let Him guide you through life!
